Walk 7: Towards South Stoke. July. Oxfordshire

Towards South Stoke

Walking Diary: Walking down the hill through the village of Streatley, I cross the River Thames. At this point, Streatley ends and Goring on Thames starts and at the same time I cross back into Oxfordshire. As the track takes me along the river, the Goring and Streatley River Regatta is in full swing on the opposite banks. To my right is the busy and noisy Didcot to London train. I walk under the famous Victorian viaduct that was built by Brunel. The twisted brick arches are spectacular and I walk through pleasant riverside meadows. Just before I reach the village of South Stoke I see the edge of the Chilterns to my right.
