Wytschaete Woods
The ‘Capture of Wytschaete’ was a tactical part of the Battle of Messines which ran from the 7th to the 14th June in 1917. On the 7th June the ridge was attacked by the 36th Ulster Division and the 16th Irish Division of the British army. They captured Wytschaete village which had been held by the Germans since 1914.
