Cape Cornwall - SOLD

Cape Cornwall

Drive through St Just, head down to the coast, park up at the visitorís car park and enjoy the wonderful view of this dramatic piece of headland. I visited here in late September when the heather was a dark burgundy and the sun was starting to set on a bright and sunny day. Heinz Monument at the centre of the cape is a chimney dating from 1864 which was part of a former mine. The name was given when Cape Cornwall was bought as a gift for the nation by H. J. Heinz Company (still in existence today and famous for its range of sauces). Cape Cornwall Mine now forms part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
